Today Year 5 tested Galileo’s theory by dropping two bottles (one full and one empty) from the same height. Like Aristotle, many of us predicted that the heavier bottle would fall faster. But using slo-mo video, we discovered that both hit the ground at the same time! Just as Galileo did hundreds of years ago, we proved that gravity causes all objects to accelerate towards the ground at the same rate, no matter their mass. 🌍💡

Year 5 created a micro journey around Scotland! Using natural materials found in our school, the children showcased their knowledge of human and physical features. We were really impressed with their creativity and the details that they have remembered from their geography lessons.

Drummond Hall has never smelt so good! Year 5 had the fantastic experience of making crumble with Harrogate High School yesterday. It was fantastic to see the children talking about food, following a recipe and seeing how adaptations to desserts can make them healthier choices.
